Kathy Ashcroft
"Room with a View"
Kathy Ashcroft grew up as a farm girl in a small Northern Utah town. She began drawing when she was 5 years old. When she was in the 3rd grade she was asked to draw a mural for the hallway of her elementary school, and she was hooked on creating art. Her life has been spent wandering the mountains near her home. Her fascination with wildlife, colors and landscape consumes her. She began her art career shortly after she was married, and successfully divided her time between being a mother, wife and artist. After creating her 4 greatest masterpieces (her 4 sons), she decided it was time to concentrate on her art career. Her subject matter focuses on wildlife, Native Americans, and religious. She is self taught having learned what she knows by reading, and studying the work of other artist. She currently lives in Hyde Park, Utah where she is surrounded by the mountains and swamps that she loves so much. They are her inspiration. Hunting and hiking provide her with the opportunity to observe the subjects found in her paintings. Her artwork can be found in many private collections across the country. She has had her artwork shown in many competitions and featured in galleries in Utah and Wyoming.
One thing I have come to realize, living in this world as long as I have, we
live on an extraordinarily beautiful planet. Not a day goes by that I am not
reminded of this, over and over. The creator of this place we call earth
gave us gifts everyday, He could have made the sun simply set, instead
it sets surrounded by colors that only He has access to. Leaves could just
fall off the trees in autumn but He thrills us again with colors from His pallet.
It is my desire to somehow, in my simple mortal way, bare witness of the master
artist and give my thanks to Him for all that He has given us.
