"Searching for color" 24x30 oil

After graduating from Utah State University in illustration and working as a freelance illustrator, Barbara Edwards evolved as a fine art oil and watercolor painter. Her popular paintings commonly portray figurative imagery and capture and intimate moment of life that might otherwise be overlooked. Barbara's painterly, realistic paintings have received numerous awards and honors as they have exhibited in international, national, regional, and state juried, invitational, group, and two person exhibits. Two of her paintings were purchased by the Utah Arts Council as part of the State of Utah's Permanent Collection.

Barbara had the honor of being juried into the prestigious international 2002 Arts of the Parks Top 100 Exhibit where she was awarded the Yellowstone National Park Purchase Award and the Arts for the Parks Wildlife Award of Merit. Earlier in the same exhibit, US Art Magazine selected painting for its Award of Excellence. Other exhibits and honors include: Oil Painters of America National Exhibits - Award of Excellence 1995, Regional Award of Excellence 1999; Utah Watercolor Society - Award of Excellence and Intermountain Society of Artists -- First Please Painting Award. Barbara's painting "When I was a child" was published in the North Light Book, The Best of Portrait Painting in 1999.

A native of the American West, Barbara was born and raised in Idaho. She is represented by galleries from Texas to her home state of Utah where she currently resides with artist husband, Glen.
