Chris Manwaring
At 32 years old Chris Manwaring has come a long way with his painting since that first paint box. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Chris spent most of his life growing up in Seattle, Washington and rural Utah. While in High School
he was fortunate enough to meet Valoy Eaton, one of the nation's top landscape painters. Through many generous hours by Mr. Eaton, Chris was able to receive a firm technical foundation that he would be able to build on. He
introduced Chris to the great painters John Sargent, Andres Zorn, and Nicholi Fechin who have been Chris' greatest influences. Values, edges, and accurate drawing were among many skills Mr. Eaton discussed and instilled in Chris.
After his fortunate acquaintance with Mr. Eaton, Chris was able to study with Scott L. Christensen, winner of the prestigious Prix De West. With Mr. Christensen Chris learned the principle of reserve, which has led to Chris' love for
harmony in painting.
Armed with his training, patience and paint, Chris now can be found roaming the mountains of the west or painting the figure in his studio. He is determined to be as truthful as possible as he translates nature on to his stark white canvas.
When he returns home to his family (Pauline, Jeremy, and Cole) he finds great joy in producing larger paintings of many subjects. His hope is that others will feel the peace and solace he feels as he is out in nature and the excitement
he experiences painting the figure in the studio.
